Health Minister Vishwajit Rane Wednesday said the state government will procure life-saving drugs recommended in the latest Indian Council of Medical Research’s ‘clinical management’ protocol for treatment of COVID-19 patients.
He said that life-saving drugs such as Remdesivir, Fabiflu and Toxilizumab will be procured for the government through the directorate of health services.
The Health Minister said these drugs are necessary, as the state is witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases and fatalities due to this deadly disease. “Our first consignment of Remdesivir will be reaching Goa today afternoon from Hyderabad via air,” Rane posted on his official Twitter handle account.
The Health Minister retracted his earlier statement that all beds were occupied at the Margao-based COVID hospital and clarified that only 105 beds out of the 220 in the hospital are currently occupied by the symptomatic COVID positive patients.
