our nation’s foes,
Maps cut the earth
where red lines grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Borders drawn
with stubborn ink
as if the sky itself
could break and shrink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet morning comes
as mornings do,
soft light falling
fresh and new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But yesterday
still clouds the air
like stubborn smoke
that lingers there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I wake from dreams
of sirens crying,
cities trembling,
rockets flying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Kyiv
morning breaks in fear,
sirens singing sharp and clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Gaza
dust on shattered stone
where children once
had freely grown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Tehran
a father scans the flame
where missiles sign
their fleeting name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet in my kitchen
life moves slow,
coffee warming
its quiet glow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dosa sings
upon the pan,
a small and ordinary plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Strange how the world
can split this way,
war in one corner,
breakfast on another day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I wonder then
How thin the seam
between the harsh truth
and a hopeful dream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Between yesterday
and what may start,
between two nations
and one human heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then suddenly
My phone gives light,
a message crossing
distance and night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A friend whose flag
stands far from mine,
across those careful
border lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAre you safe?\u201d
His message reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So small a phrase,
Yet all one needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Strange how friendship
crosses through
the lines that war
insists that they are true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We talk of the weather,
books, and tea,
small human things
that let us be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And for a moment
The world grows small,
smaller than hatred,
smaller than walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perhaps peace begins
this quiet way,
not in speeches
leaders say,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
not in rooms
of power and might,
but in gentle words
sent through the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If poetry can travel
where armies fail,
If words can cross
each guarded trail,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then maybe someday
children will wake<\/p>\n\n\n\n
in Gaza,
Kyiv,
Tehran,
Tel Aviv,
Moscow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to skies unbroken
overhead,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
where the loudest sound
The world will know<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is laughter rising
soft and slow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And friendship
stronger than any line
drawn by fear
or design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
