I bought five books \u2013 \u2018Karna\u2019s Wife: The Outcast\u2019s Queen\u2019 and \u2018Sita\u2019s Sister\u2019 by Kavita Kane, \u2018The Girl in Room 105\u2019 by Chetan Bhagat, \u2018The Perils of Being Moderately Famous\u2019 by Soha Ali Khan and \u2018The Zoya Factor\u2019 by Anuja Chauhan \u2013 out of which I finished reading the two books by Kavita Kane. I got hooked on these books after I learned that the author picked female characters from Indian mythology who are rarely spoken about or have been in the background. I am currently reading \u2018The Perils of Being Moderately Famous\u2019.<\/p>\n

With the pandemic offering time for leisure, an introvert like me \u2013 happy to be in the comfort of my home \u2013 has been reading work by Indian authors like Novoneel Chakraborty, Chetan Bhagat, Dujoy Dutta and many more. But recently the show \u2018Vampire Diaries\u2019 based on the novel by LJ Smith caught my attention. The name of the show itself indicates that it\u2019s a supernatural television series not only dispensing the genre but also offering much more than entertainment. The characters portray the importance of family, friendship, love, and humanity. The show has left me obsessed with improving my vocabulary and improving my personality.<\/p>\n

Being an animal lover and travel enthusiast, I was happy to catch up on some of my favourite non-fiction shows. I was intrigued by shows like \u2018TED Talks\u2019, dog trainer Victoria Stilwell\u2019s \u2018It\u2019s Me or the Dog\u2019 and many more. In the age of technology, online DIY videos also allowed me to learn new skills and tricks. <\/p>\n

I have been collecting books and bookmarking TV series for a long time now. Over time the list has gotten longer and the free time has gotten shorter; then 2020 happened and I had relatively more time than usual. I have been reading a mix of fiction like \u2018Gone with the Wind\u2019, \u2018The Mistress of Spices\u2019, \u2018The Pagoda Tree\u2019 and non-fiction like \u2018Educated\u2019, \u2018Women\u2019s Oppression Today\u2019, \u2018The Second Sex\u2019, etc, and actively publishing book reviews on my Instagram page. I am currently reading \u2018The Last Woman\u2019 by Nadia Murad. I have also been guiltlessly binge-watching TV shows like \u2018The Mindy Project\u2019, \u2018This Is Us\u2019, \u2018Never Have I Ever\u2019, \u2018You\u2019, \u2018Special Ops\u2019 and so on. Right now, I am watching \u2018Brooklyn Nine-Nine\u2019 and I plan to watch \u2018Lucifer\u2019 and \u2018The Office\u2019 after this. I am so addicted to TV shows and I just can\u2019t stop. I think 2020 will be the year I read and watch the most. I love how there is so much variety in the books and TV shows available; there is something in every genre to suit you and keep you hooked. They have proved to be the silver lining to an otherwise drab year.<\/p>\n

I have been a long-time fan of sitcoms like \u2018Friends\u2019 and \u2018How I Met Your Mother\u2019 but I was yet to watch the all-time hit, \u2018The Office\u2019 which I\u2019m currently watching. I have finished six seasons and am currently on the seventh. The level of humour is on a whole new level. It is in a lot of ways a complete sitcom with all different kinds of emotions and relatable daily-life incidents that get people hooked. It surely has become my favourite.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been reading \u2018The Silent Patient\u2019 by Alex Michaelides. There was a lot of hype about this novel so I always wanted to read it but only got around to doing so a few days ago. I\u2019m glad I decided to because it has got me completely hooked since it’s a psychological thriller and there\u2019s also a murder that takes place right at the outset. The alleged murderer refuses to say anything after the murder occurs let alone about the murder itself which makes it a suspenseful read and leaves one wondering what to make of the character\u2019s silence. Thus, it keeps the reader on the edge almost at all times. I can\u2019t wait to get to the end and find out the truth about this story.<\/p>\n

In the beginning of the lockdown I wasn\u2019t pretty excited since travelling was not allowed and I love being outside, but eventually I got used to being home. I almost finished watching a lot of films and some shows as well. \u2018Patal Lok\u2019 was one of the films I watched; \u2018Friends\u2019 and \u2018Rashbhari\u2019 were some of the shows that I watched on Prime\/Netflix. Shows and movies to do with horror or detective shows are what interests me.<\/p>\n
