You use and abuse me as much as you can
\nBut I am not your private property
\nYou defile my rivers with the waste you generate
\nBut some day you will realize your folly
\nYou never think twice before satisfying your greed
\nBut if you make amends I always forgive
\nYou converted my forests into wastelands
\nBut I do nothing, I am not impulsive
\nYou exploit my resources to your heart\u2019s content
\nBut I allow you to do so, such is my nature
\nYou destroy the delicate balance which exists
\nBut I patiently hope that one day you\u2019ll mature
\nYou pollute my lungs with noxious fumes
\nBut I silently suffer and tolerate
\nYou carry on as always your senseless carnage
\nBut you think that I\u2019m powerless because I do not retaliate.<\/p>\n
Then one day:
\nThe Earth\u2019s temperature is found to have risen
\nThe glaciers on the mountains are melting
\nThe skies are dark and overcast<\/p>\n
Throughout the year it is heavily raining
\nHouses and people are washed away
\nThe banks of the rivers are flooded
\nThe water is no longer fit for drinking
\nThe aquifers below are contaminated
\nCrops and fields have been destroyed
\nFor weeks there is no food to eat
\nEven when the rain stops there is no respite
\nMany more die from the sweltering heat.<\/p>\n
Blinded by his belief in his omnipotence
\nMan conquered the land, sky and ocean
\nToday a victim of his own misdoings
\nI tried to warn him, but did he listen?<\/p>\n
