Vasco: The district administration is all set to declare Khariwada locality in Vasco as a containment zone after witnessing a surge in the COVID-19 cases.
Khariwada will be the third containment zone in the entire Mormugao taluka after the Mangor-Hill and Zuarinagar slum areas.
According to sources, the local administration has conducted a survey of the Khariwada locality. The area covering the coastal belt and houses located next to the F L Gomes Road from Tilak Maidan to T B Cunha Chowk have been identified by the local administration to be included in the containment zone.
The announcement of Khariwada, which has reported three COVID deaths, as a containment zone is likely to be made by the District Collector, South, on Friday or by weekend.
Mormugao mamlatdar Saiesh Naik confirmed that the Khariwada area will be declared a containment zone. “The official announcement will be made by the District Collector, South, through an order, which is likely to be issued either on Friday or by the end of this week,” Naik said.
Meanwhile, the antibody testing at the Mangor-Hill containment zone is likely to start from Friday onwards.
