CURCHOREM: Stating that any project of the government in Goa is being approved by the opposition, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that opposing for the sake of opposition is not a healthy sign for the development of any state.
The DefExpo has been welcomed by the general public and there is a demand to organise such exhibitions, said Parrikar.
He was addressing the BJP workers meet at Assolda panchayat hall late Wednesday evening.
The Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, state party unit president Vinay Tendulkar, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, ZP member Perpetual Fernandes, sarpanch Daya Naik, Pramod Dessai and others were present on the occasion. Parrikar further said that DefExpo has been organised for the welfare of the state.
The communidade of Keri in Ponda has offered a land admeasuring 4 lakh square metres area for organising DefExpo, he said.
Commenting on the Goa Dairy, he said the Goa Dairy management has approached High Court challenging the entry of SUMUL in state only to safeguard its interest.
The entry of SUMUL has benefited the milk producers by Rs 4 to 5 per packet, he added.
He further alleged that the ice cream project of the Goa Dairy is a very big scam. Large funds have been sanctioned by the central government for the development of Goa, he said and appealed to the voters to give one more chance to the party in the forthcoming assembly elections.
Parsekar said that the government has carried out development in the state without any discrimination. Cabral also expressed his views. Naik compared the meeting while Rajendra Vast proposed the vote of thanks.
