Keeping it classic


Pratibha Sangeet Vidhyalay in collaboration with the Department of Art and Culture of Goa held its first ‘SHADAJ’, Sangeet Sammelan at the Directorate of Art and Culture Auditorium at Patto, Panaji.

The function was inaugurated by the director of art and culture Gurudas Pilarnekar and commenced with a rendition of prayer in Sanskrit (shlok) by Shreyas Gawade.

The evening saw performances like raag ‘Ahir Bharirav’ on harmonium by Premanand Kalshaokar; Jugalbandhi – a duet by two solo musicians on raag ‘Todi’ on harmonium accompanied on tabla by Tukaram Bitye and taal ‘Roopak’ by Milind Parab on tabla accompanied by Charutdatta Gawas

Mumbai artist’s Ankita Joshi’s rendering in classical style raag ‘Shuddha Sarang’ and ‘Abhang’ alleviated the audience to a higher level of appreciation. She was accompanied on tabla by Ramkrishna Kolambkar and harmonium by Dilip Gadekar

Krishna Parab charmed the audience with various natya geet on the organ accompanied on the tabla by Millind Parab while Rohan Govekar and Tejas Wader presented a jugalbandi in raag ‘Madhuvanti’ accompanied on tabla by Saeesh Dalai. Apart from this, Gautami Amonkar played tabla on taal Trital accompanied for Lahra by Premanand Amonkar.

The function concluded with a vocal recital by Ramakant Gaikwad in raag ‘Puriya Dhanashree’ in vilambit ektal, Mishra Khamaj Thumri and a thumri in raag ‘Kirvani’. He was supported on tabla by Ramkrishna Kolambkar and on harmonium by Dilip Gadekar and tambora by Bharat Banaulikar.

The program was compered by drama artist Raj Mohan Shetye.
