The High Court of Bombay at Goa will shift to the new high court building coming up at Porvorim, during the summer vacation next year, and start functioning at the new premises from June 2020.
Coming out with this information, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who visited the under-construction high court building on Thursday, said that the contractor M V Rao and Company will complete the Rs 90-crore project by March 31, 2020.
“This project is also monitored by the High Court of Bombay at Goa, and presently 88 per cent of the civil work of the building as well as 22 per cent of the interior work has been completed,” he added, pointing out that as soon as the work of the building, which has seven courtroom halls, is complete the same would be handed over to the High Court of Bombay in Goa.
The inauguration of the building is expected to take place in April 2020, while the court will shift from its present premises in the city to the new building during the summer vacation 2020.
L K S India is the consultant for the high court building project. The work of the building has been divided into three phases – civil as well as electrical works, interior works and landscaping.
Sawant said the estimates for the construction of roads adjoining the new high court building have already been prepared and the related work would be tendered within a fortnight.
He also said the decision as regards the present premises of the High Court of Bombay at Goa will be taken only after the shift is complete.
The managing director of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Srinet Kotwale was also present on the occasion.
