Guirdolim SC seal quarters spot after easy win

Cansaulim: Goals from Melwin Carvalho, Safik Sheikh and Richard D’Sa enabled Guirdolim SC to register a convincing 3-0 win over Parish Youth, Nuvem and enter the quarterfinals of CAC’s Three Kings Cup Football Tournament played at TB Cunha Sports Complex grounds, Cansaulim on Wednesday.

Guirdolim SC who led 1-0 at half time through a goal scored by Melwin in the 12th minute, pumped in two more goals in the second session through Safik Sheik (37th minute) and Richard D’Sa (60th minute).

Playing an attacking game right from the start, Guirdolim SC started the match in the right earnest, making a great move through striker Melwin Carvalho whose powerful shot from the right flank flew over the rival bar in the 8th minute.

Melwyn soon was once again in the thick of action four minutes later to put his team in the lead in the 12th minute. Receiving a great pass from the left flank, Melwin dashed into the rival box after dodging two defenders and then sent an angular effort to beat Parish Youth, Nuvem keeper Floiton Quadros.

Parish Youth, Nuvem thereafter retaliated after regrouping well and carried out a menacing raid which saw attacking medio Denikson Dias hitting the cross bar, giving Guirdolim SC keeper Oswin Rodrigues a scare.

The second session saw Guirdolim SC resuming the match even much stronger with Safik Sheikh bulging the nets in the 45th minute after eluding the strong Parish Youth, Nuvem defence on sheer speed by placing the ball to the far corner of the rival nets to buttress their lead.

Nuvem’s Niclau Colaso thereafter sent a 20-yard shot from a free kick which was easily collected by Guirdolim keeper Oswin Rodrigues.

Guirdolim thereafter began to control the proceedings and scored their third goal through Richard D’Sa who ran almost solo and then after entering the box placed the ball far beyond the reach of Parish Youth, Nuvem keeper Floiton Quadros.

Jorose Oliveira who played a very good game for Parish Youth, Nuvem tried two long rang shots to try and pull at least a goal back but it was in vain.
