With the inflow of people from across the country, the Goa government has now planned to intensify coronavirus (COVID-19) testing by enhancing the testing capacity and recruiting additional manpower at the testing centres in the state.

“We are in the process of increasing the Truenat testing facilities in Hospicio, Asilo & SDH Ponda. Our aim is to increase the number of machines & recruit additional microbiologists, MD microbiologists & MSC microbiologists at these hospitals to ramp up the testing,” Health Minister Vishwajit Rane posted on his official Twitter handle account.

He said the department will recruit technicians and that will enable testing of approximately 1,500-2,000 samples on a daily basis.

Rane said the latest ‘Abbott M2000 RTPCR Machine’ has been installed at the virology laboratory of the Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim which has increased the testing capacity at the GMC.
