The Union Minister of State for AYUSH (IC) Shripad Naik said that there is a need to gain advanced knowledge in the medical field so as to ensure good health for the new generations.
“This would help us to face the new challenges in the health sector,” he added, pointing out that ignorance leads us in the wrong direction.
Naik was speaking after inaugurating Dr Anand Naik Kurade Memorial Seminar on Herbs, Health and Horticulture at Multipurpose Hall, Sanskruti Bhawan, Panaji.
Speaking further, the Union Minister said that the AYUSH Ministry has dedicated this year to heart care. He also informed that the government provides 70 per cent subsidy for the cultivation of medicinal plants.
Also present for the function were Suman Naik Kurade, the president of the Green Club, Dr Sangram Kesaridas and Nevil Alfonso from the department of agriculture.
Naik later distributed prizes to the winners of the ‘Home Gardener’ contest organised by the Green Club.
