PANAJI: The state government has given in-principle approval for setting up a luxurious floating restaurant in river Mandovi at the Captain of Ports jetty, Panaji.
The necessary permissions have been granted to T-Mark Hospitality to set up the restaurant ‘Watermark’ which is owned by Trivesh Ajgaonkar, the son of Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar.
The work of constructing floating wooden jetty is currently going on in full swing and the floating restaurant is expected to be launched by this month end.
“Watermark is a joint venture by me and my other two partners Gokul Kumar and Pankaj Shetty,” said Trivesh while speaking to this daily.
He said that this restaurant will have a seating capacity of 40-50 people and will have Goan as well as Indian cuisines on its menu.
He clarified that no concrete structure will be built and the readymade pontoon boat is just stationed at the jetty to set up the restaurant.
The government officers have said that the final nod to run the restaurant will be given only once all the criteria are fulfilled by proprietors including obtaining no objection certificates from Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services and the Food and Drugs Administration.
