On Monday, devotees of Lord Krishna across the state celebrated the annual festival of Gokulashtami, the birth of Krishna. The ‘dahi handi’ an intergal part of this festival attracts a lot of youth participation. Devotees on this day hang an earthen pot filled with curd while youth form a human pyramid and try breaking the pot. This year over 500 devotees visited the Shree Nagesh Maharudra Temple, in Nagueshi. The revellers were decked up in their finest clothes and were dancing to the beat of the traditional musical instruments. The students of Goa College of Art, also put up an impressive act, giving a modern touch to the traditional practice with ‘krishna’ riding into the venue on a motorbike.
