Goa’s Sandhya clinches triple crown

Panaji: Former Goa State champion Sandhya Melasheemi won triple crown at the 44th Indian Masters National Badminton Championships 2019-20 at Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Competing in three finals in the 35+ age group, Sandhya played exceptionally well to emerge winner in women’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. In women’s singles 35+, top-seed Sandhya defeated Shantala Kampapurmath 21-7, 21-5 to emerge victorious. In mixed doubles 35+, she along with her partner Varun Sharma outclassed Manish Rawat and Mansi Kohli 21-14, 21-14, and in women’s doubles 35+, the Margao girl and her partner Sangeetha Mari upset the top seeded pair of Yupu Boni and Shantala Kampapurmath 21-14 21-10.
