Goa’s real estate potential strong

Ramesh Tiwari arrived in Goa 17 years back to make his fortune in the booming real estate industry. His firm is the first ISO certified real estate agency and the purpose of certification was to professionalize operations. Tiwari adds that he is blended into local environs despite coming from a totally different culture.


Why did you opt to start a business in Goa?

Since I was in real estate business in Delhi I found Goa a fascinating state with good business potential while on my pleasure trip here. Goa is very safe and people are very friendly and cooperative. It is a famous tourist destination and everyone wants to buy their second home here. Hence I decided to shift my business to Goa.

Your toughest task in setting up the business?

There wasn’t any toughest task as such as I had experience in this field for many years. But indeed I faced local language problem in the beginning and I overcome this difficulty by making the local language my priority. Nevertheless it took me some years and today I can understand the language and speak little bit, but not fluently.

Have you achieved all your goals? If not what remains to be done?

Improvement is never ending process. After achieving a particular goal further objectives are being set and continuously by the grace of God I’m successful in achieving my goals till now.

Your best business moment.

Every moment when I see a smile on my customers face after a successful dealing is my best business moment.

Most difficult period. How did you overcome it?

I have learnt that work is worshiping God and no work is small, big or good or bad. In whichever profession you are, one should be devoted wholeheartedly. I’m devoted to my work in real estate and always try to enhance the satisfaction of my customers. And my firm is the first ISO certified real estate agency in Goa.

How did you settle down and merge into the Goan lifestyle?

Initially in fact language problem was there as Hindi was not spoken and popular in Goa but now the things have changed. And the humble and simple nature of Goans made me very comfortable among them. So I’m thankful to all Goans who have supported me at all stages.

Customs or festivals that appeal to you.

Definitely Goan culture is totally different from the north. Most fascinating thing which touches my heart is that all festivals maybe of Hindu, Christians or Muslims are being celebrated equally.

State one aspect of Goa which has changed for better or worse?

The apartment culture is a major new trend in Goa. It is helped lots of Goans to have their own house. The infrastructure in the state is improved and it attracts tourist here.

What changes would you like to see in the business as well as social environment?

Less complications in the buying and selling of property and less duties in the procedures for buying houses.

If not a businessman, what would you have chosen as a profession? Why?

I was passionate about this business from the very beginning so I’m devoted to this profession only and never thought of anything else.

Your definition of susegado

The word susegado doesn’t exists in my dictionary as I worship my work and I am working for 365 days.
