online travel: Soul Travelling is hosting an online experience titled ‘The glorious past of the city of Old Goa’ with architect Tahir Noronha on July 1, 8 p.m. on Airmeet. During the session, Noronha will explore the secrets and stories of the forgotten city of Elathat once had a population more than that of London and Lisbon. Prior to the session a 20-minute interaction to socialise and network with other participants will be held. The session will also be broadcast live on Soul Travelling’s Facebook page. global MUSIC PROJECT: Jazz Goa is conducting a non-commercial music project that will bring the world together in one song. Salsero is a song that hopes to set a world record for the number of languages it will be recorded in. ONLINE CHILDREN’S EXHIBITION: In a bid to celebrate the talent of young artists MOG Foundation is curating an online exhibition titled ‘A World Of My Own’ putting on display the artistic creations of children. The exhibit will display artworks in various mediums, styles and imagination by children between five and 15 years of age. To participate children are invited to create an artwork based on the theme ‘If I open the door of my house, where would I go?’ and submit the same to the platform: museumofgoa.com/mog-kids. FOVAA 2020: Fundacao Oriente is organising an open call for entries for the Fundacao Oriente Visual Arts Award (FOVAA) 2020. The competition is open to any artist, 18 years and above, customarily residing in Goa. Both amateur and professional artists are eligible to participate. Works in the mediums of drawing, printmaking, painting, photography, sculpture, installation and video art will be accepted for this award. Submissions will be accepted between July 15 and July 31. TRASH TALK: The sixth episode of the ‘Listen In’ online talk series organised by Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts will be held on July 1, 5 p.m. on Zoom. The webinar titled ‘Trash Island: the Henderson Expedition’, will see award-winning British photographer Mandy Barker present her latest body of work produced during the 2019 Henderson Island Plastic Pollution Expedition. One of the world’s most remote islands, Henderson is uninhabited by humans but was nicknamed Trash Island when scientists discovered it to be polluted with 38 million pieces of plastic waste.
