Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday flagged off 44 new four-wheelers that have been purchased by the Goa police department.
The 44 vehicles will replace the existing police control room (PCR) and highway patrol vehicles.
Sawant said that regular upgradation of various departments which are serving the community is undertaken. He said that it is necessary to provide better facilities to the departments which give services to the people.
“Otherwise they won’t give good services,” said Sawant. Also present on the occasion were Chief Secretary Parimal Rai and others.
Speaking on the occasion, DIG Rajesh Kumar thanked the Chief Minster and the Chief Secretary for their efforts, “they went out of their way and saw to it that we get these vehicles”, said Kumar adding that, “we all know Goa is going through financial crunch but we were able to convinced and they were convinced thoroughly that yes, the police department needs a makeover and these vehicles will go a long in changing the image of the Goa police.
