Bhakti Kulkarni in sole lead

PANAJI: Goa’s Woman Grandmaster Bhakti Kulkarni took sole lead with 6.5 points at the end of seventh round in the 46th National Women Chess Championship being played at Chettinad Public School of Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu. Bhakti beat higher ranked WGM Soumya Swaminathan in the seventh round to remain unbeaten. Earlier, she defeated WIM Divya Deshmukh and WIM Thipsay and was held to a draw by WIM Vantika in the fifth round.

Candolim SC down PVC Parra

VAGATOR: Candolim SC registered a 3-2 win over PVC Parra in the 21st Vagator Soccer match played at Vagator PYSC ground in Vagator on Tuesday. Stanley D’Silva (11th minute), Bhavesh Candolkar (44th minute) and Jose Fernandes (56th minute) were the goal scorers for the winners.

Rishan, Atharva, Ruchi, Anvi in TT finals

PEDDEM: Rishan Sheikh will meet Atharva Dhulapkar in Mini Cadet Boys finals while Ruchi Kirtani will take on Avni Nadkarni in Mini Cadet Girls Finals, at the Rotary Geno All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament organised by Rotary Club of Mapusa at TT Hall, Peddem Sports complex. In the Mini Cadet Girls semis, Ruchi Kirtani beat Bhuvi Karmali 3-0 (11-5,11-6,11-4) and Anvi Nadkarni beat Neeza Kamat 3-1 (13-15,11-8,11-6,13-11). In Mini Cadet Boys semis, Rishan Sheikh beat Aashman Dhaimodkar 3-0 (11-6,11-7,11-8) and Atharva Dhulapkar beat Shaurya Shetgaokar 3-0 (11-6,11-5,11-5)
