Goa University finish fourth

PANAJI: Goa University finished fourth in the All India Inter University Football Championship for men organised by Mumbai University in Mumbai, after losing to Kannur University 5-4 in the tie-breaker on Friday. Two goals for Kannur came in the 44th and 75th minute with Goa responding in the 78th minute through Gaurav Vaigankar and in injury time through Clive Miranda. In the tie-breaker, Flagan Rodrigues, Clive Miranda, Stephen Satarkar, Devendra  Murgaonkar scored for Goa.


Basketball selections for National Games on Dec 28

PANAJI: Goa Basketball Association will conduct the final round of open selection trials for the Goa State teams for the 36th National Games to be held in April 2019. The trial will be held for men and Women at 5.00 pm to 6.00 pm at the Don Bosco Oratory indoor stadium on Sunday. Those interested should show up at the venue with full playing kit.


Tennis selections for National Games

PANAJI: Goa State Tennis Association is organising selection tryouts for the National Games which will be held in Goa soon. The tryouts for the men and women category will be held at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias from 8.00 am onwards on January 5 and 6, and again on the January 12 and 13.


Aivao YC beat Don Bosco Oratory

TALEIGAO: Aivao Youth Club made two comebacks to down Don Bosco Oratory 3-2 in the Goa Football Association Third Division League match played at Taleigao ground, on Friday. Don Bosco Oratory scored first in the 18th minute through Flynson Fernandes. With both teams balance in the second half, Aivao managed to net the equalising goal at the hour mark through Pandurang Gawas. Don Bosco restored the lead in the 75th minute through Johnson Kanjulna. But their joys were short-lived as Manoj Gawas scored the leveller within two minutes. With just 10 minutes to go, Damodar Naik gave Aivao YC the lead for the first time in the came and sustained it till the very end to walk away with the three points.



In our issue dated 27/12/2018 we had inadvertently mentioned that Delhi region had beaten Chandigarh in the inaugural match of the first All KV staff T20 cricket being held at BITS Pilani, campus. The inaugural match was won by Chandigarh. The error is regretted. – Sports Editor
