Vasco Marines lead basketball league

PANAJI: At the end of the fourth weekend, Vasco Marines lead THE CHALLENGE Basketball League with three straight wins (6 points), and are followed closely by YMCA Titans, DB Fatorda and Siolim Basketeers club with 4 points each. In the weekend matches, YMCA Titans beat Siolim 40-31; DB Fatorda had it easy with Assailants 12 44-23; Vasco Marine defeated Panjim Basketeers Club 60-52 and Lourdes BC clinched a thrilling 41-39 victory over DBO Chargers.


Jimu, Kishan emerge TT champs

PONDA: Jimu Bute and Kishan Naik clinched U-17 and U-14 titles respectively at the table tennis tournament, organised by Lions Club of Ponda for the players of orphanage Matruchaya’s Bal Kalyan Ashram, Talaulim-Ponda. In the U-17 final, Jimu defeated Pramod Bhandari 11-8, 10-12, 11-7, 11-4 while Kishan beat Ritesh Gad 7-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-6 in the U-14 final.


Dionisio Sardinha is new chief of Curtorim Gymkhana

CURTORIM: Curtorim Gymkhana elected its new managing committee for the term 2018-2020 with Dionisio Edward Sardinha as the president during annual general body meeting held at club premises recently. Anthony Rebello was elected as vice-president while Arnaldo Costa and Gregorio Fernandes were elected as general secretary and treasurer respectively.
