Porvorim: Goa beat Sikkim by nine wickets on the fourth and final day of their Ranji Trophy Plate Group match, at GCA’s Academy ground in Porvorim, on Thursday.
Resuming the final day at 331/8, the visitors could only manage to add another 43 runs as Goa captain Amit Verma took both the remaining wickets.
Sikkim’s overnight not out batsman Iqbal Abdullah, who was stranded at 99 at the close of third day’s play, went on to complete his century on the fourth day morning and was finally dismissed for 135, caught by Kauthankar off Amit Verma. Earlier, Amit sent back P Tamang, caught by Darshan Misal, for 36. Their No 11 batsman IH Choudhary remained not out o 2.
Chasing 75 to win, the hosts lost opener Aditya Kaushik for a duck early but Sumiran Amonkar (20 not out) and Suyash Prabhudessai (49 not out) ensured there were no further hiccups.
