Marathi film director, Sumitra Bhave will be presented with the lifetime achievement award at the 12th edition of the Goa Marathi Film Festival which will be held from June 28 to June 30
The 12th Goa Marathi Film Festival is all set to open on June 28 with a special dance and skit entertainment programme presented by Fakt Marathi, Maharashtra’s leading general entertainment television channel.
The festival, which will be held from June 28 to June 30 at Kala Academy, Maquinez Palace, and Inox Multiplex in Panaji, and at 1930 Vasco in Vasco, will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, in the presence of the Minister for Art and Culture, Govind Gaude, Member of Parliament, Sanjay Raut, and film producer and director, Subhash Ghai.
The opening ceremony will also witness presentation of Kritadnyata Puraskar, a lifetime achievement award to Marathi film director, Sumitra Bhave. In addition, this ‘Gaurav Utsav Sohala’ will give away a number of other awards in categories including Chaturastra Abhineta (all-rounder actor), Chaturastra Abhinetri (all-rounder actress), Vishesh Gaurav (Special Honour), Fakt Marathi Abhiman (Only Marathi Pride), Samaj Ratna (Gem of the Society) and Kala Gaurav (Felicitation of the Art).
The film festival, which boasts of exhibiting at least 50 per cent unreleased films, will screen ‘Basta’ directed by Tanaji Ghadge, ‘Mulshi Pattern’ directed by Pravin Tarde, ‘Hodee’ directed by Gajendra Ahire, ‘Naal’ directed by Sudhakar Reddy, ‘Wedding Cha Shinema’ directed by Saleel Kulkarni, ‘Kaagar’ directed by Makarand Mane, ‘Sur Sapaata’ directed by Mangesh Kanthale, ‘Bhonga’ directed by Shivaji Patil, ‘Dithee’ directed by Sumitra Bhave, ‘Imego’ directed by Karan Chavan, ‘Khatla Bitla’ directed by Paresh Mokashi, ‘Mhorkya’ directed by Amar Deokar, ‘Miranda House’ directed by Rajendra Talak, ‘Paani’ directed by Adinath Kothare, ‘Chumbak’ directed by Sandeep Modi, ‘Aaron’ directed by Omkar Shetty, ‘Ahilya’ directed by Raju Parsekar, ‘Dombivli Return’ directed by Sandeep Kulkarni and ‘Mogra Phulla’ directed by Shrabani Deodhar.
The Goa Marathi Film Festival will also screen short films namely ‘Postpartum’, ‘Godhul’ and ‘Pamplet’.
The entry to the annual film fiesta organised by Vinsan World will be through registration, and the same can be done at Vinsan Graphics offices in Vasco and Panaji, besides Natekar Pharmacy in Mapusa, Maya Book Stall in Margao, and Rang Rachana in Ponda, as also on bookmyshow.com
The organisers of the film festival informed that this year, the inaugural ceremony will not be followed by screening of the opening film. Instead, a three-hour entertainment bonanza will be presented by dance performers such as Manasi Naik, Puja Sawant, and Pushkar Jog. The event will also include skits.
The film festival is expected to be attended by celebrities from Marathi films like Sai Tamhankar, Dilip Prabhavalkar, Nagraj Manjule, Ravi Jadhav, Rinku Rajguru, Mrinal Kulkarni, Milind Gunaji, Prasad Oak, Kishor Kadam, and Paresh Mokashi among others.
