Panaji: The Goa Forward Party MLAs Jayesh Salgaonkar and Vinod Paliencar on Tuesday rubbished the news as regards their proposed entry in the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The two legislators addressed a late evening press conference following statements made by the former BJP MLAs Dilip Parulekar and Dayanand Mandrekar that the process as regards entry of Salgaonkar and Paliencar into the BJP was going on since the past six months.
Parulekar and Mandrekar were defeated in the 2017 state assembly election by Salgaonkar and Paliencar, respectively.
Addressing the media, Salgaonkar said that he never considered joining the BJP, neither six months ago, nor
“I also don’t understand the timing of floating these rumours,” he added.
Paliencar said that the Goa Forward Party will presently perform the role of an active opposition, and in the future, form a government dedicated to the interest of Goa and Goans, under GFP president Vijai Sardesai.
Meanwhile, stating that his party has mechanism to find the veracity of claims made about the entry of his MLAs in the BJP, Sardesai said that the truth has an uncanny habit of coming out at the right time.
“It is ironical that the BJP should seek political casualties on the very day Goa has witnessed two COVID-19 related casualties,” he stated, retorting that a government, which claims to be strong, is desperately trying to damage the political health of Goa, instead of improving the public health affected by the Corona pandemic.
