Flight passenger complains of chest pain midair, dies

 

VASCO: A Chennai-bound Muscat Oman Air flight made an emergency landing at Dabolim airport on Thursday early morning after an Omani woman passenger Sheikha Rathi Al Maskari (66) complained of severe chest pain and died subsequently.

As per available information from Dabolim airport police, the flight was mid-air over Goa territory when the woman, who was travelling with her son and other family members on a medical visa to Chennai, complained of severe pain.

The flight attendants immediately provided medical aid to the woman, also a message was passed on to the air traffic control by pilots who decided to make an emergency landing at Dabolim airport upon receiving signal from the ATC.

The flight landed at around 7 a.m. The para medical staff attached to Dabolim airport immediately attended to the patient; however, they pronounced her dead. The body was thereafter shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) morgue at Bambolim from Cottage Hospital, Chicalim.

Dabolim airport police have registered a case of unnatural death.

Police sub-inspector Jatin Potdar is further investigating the case under supervision of his superiors.
