Flesh trade racket busted in Calangute; duo held, 5 rescued

Busting an alleged prostitution racket, Crime Branch police arrested 2 persons and rescued 5 victim women during a raid in Calangute on Tuesday.

The accused have been identified as Kanha Raju (28) and Adarsh (28), informed police. Acting on a tip-off, a crime branch team led by police inspector CL Patil conducted the raid under the supervision of SP Pankaj Kumar Singh. Singh said that based on the source information, a trap was laid near a hotel in Calangute. Kanha was apprehended red-handed along with one victim girl while negotiating a “deal” with a decoy customer, informed the police adding that the accused led the police to a guest house in Calangute where another accused was found along with 4 more victim women.

According to police, both the accused were found to be surviving on the earnings of the victim girls. The accused originally from Odisha are staying in Goa since the last 5 years, informed police.
