FC Siolim held; Saligao United, USC Seraulim win

Siolim: An 80th minute goal by Neshan Noronha earned FC Siolim a crucial point as they held St Sebastian SC to a 1-1 draw in the GFA’s Third Division League (Bardez Zone) match played at St Anthony Church ground, Siolim on Friday. 

FC Siolim and St Sebastian SC started the match on equal terms. FC Siolim’s Valent Fernandes and Rajesh had two chances in the first session but the duo failed to convert them. St Sebastian took control of the game in the second quarter and after constant pressing they finally broke the deadlock in the first half injury time through Shane Rebello.

In the second half, the play was once again restricted to midfield. But a late surge saw FC Siolim score the equalising goal 10 minutes from time to steal a crucial point from St Sebastian SC.

In another game at Chapora ground, Saligao United scored a solitary-goal win over Peddem Bomm. Nester Dias scored the lone goal of the game in the 56th minute.

Meanwhile, United Sports Club, Seraulim scored a fluent 2-0 win over St Rock’s Youth Club in a Salcete Zone match played at Dando ground.

Aldrich Araujo was the star player for Seraulim as the he scored a brace for the winning team. Earlier Seraulim missed couple of chances through J Noronha and Mackinley Cunha. At the other end, St Rock’s YC had a very ordinary game wherein they restricted their play to long balls which didn’t allow them to settle in the game. The final score remained 2-0.
