FC Goa announced a partnership with the Salvador do Mundo panchayat for the club’s youth development projects. The partnership will see the developmental and other youth teams shift base from Margao to Salvador do Mundo. The partnership was announced on February 9 at the Nomozo event in the presence of Rohan Khaunte, MLA, Porvorim and Akshay Tandon, president, FC Goa.
The premises of the village panchayat ground in Salvador do Mundo will provide the young Gaurs with a brand new training facility which includes a professional standard football pitch and a well-equipped gymnasium.
The club will look after the maintenance of the infrastructure whilst also looking to develop the local talent in the region by imparting technical know-how and foster community development by means of the beautiful game.
“We have long believed in reviving Goa’s existing infrastructure before developing any new infrastructure. Working with the Salvador Panchayat gives us an opportunity to work towards that goal. We are also particularly excited about working with the panchayat to develop local talent. We are hopeful that this partnership is successful and lasts for many, many years.” said FC Goa President Akshay Tandon.
Rohan A Khaunte, MLA, Porvorim mentioned, “I am proud of that fact that the newest training facility for our Young Gaurs will be in Porvorim. Our tie-up with FC Goa will certainly boost the sportsmen’s spirit. And this initiative has been part of our continuous effort to invest in the future of sports and sportsmen of Goa and Porvorim.”
