FC Goa see off Salgaocar

NAGOA: FC Goa rode on a fine brace by Velrose Dias to blank Salgaocar FC 3-0 in the Hero India Youth Sub-Junior League match played at Nagoa grounds, Verna on Tuesday.

Velrose scored in the 48th and 50th minute while their other goal was scored by attacking medio Ivo Costa in the 64th minute.

FC Goa went into the lead when captain Rohan Mangaokar moved his way down the right flank after Prachit made a good pass to him; crossed the ball across the face of Salgaocar FC goal inside the six yard box from where Velrose banged it in with a left footer, giving no chance at all to Salgacoar FC keeper Reev Goes.

Two minutes later, Velrose was at it again to find the mark when Prachit Gaoncar dazzled with his quick footwork to hoodwink the Salgaocar FC defenders, and on entering the box he smartly passed the ball to better-placed Velrose who had no difficulty in finding the mark.

FC Goa scored their third goal through Ivo Costa who after receiving a defence-splitting pass from Prachit easily beat the Salgaocar FC keeper.

Salgaocar FC had three glorious chances to find the mark in the 5th, 15th and 17th minute of the first session and in the 61st minute of the second half, but on all the occasions their strikers lacked the imagination to convert them into goals.

Salgaocar FC’s Flan Crasto had most of the chances but the attacking medio’s touch was not good enough to guide the ball in, although he did take the shots in the first half which were off the mark.

In the last few minutes of play, Salgaocar FC tried to step up pressure but that was too little too late to cover up the lost ground.

FC Goa keeper Micky Dias had an excellent day under the bar as he made fine collections from the air while his counterpart Reev also did a fairly good job under Salgaocar’s horizontal. He was helpless though to stop Velrose and Ivo from scoring as their defence was kept napping by the FC Goa’s dazzling medios Prachit and Rohan.
