FC Goa needs a win to qualify for the semifinals whilst a draw will suffice for Real Kashmir FC as the two play their final tie of Group C of the Durand Cup in Kolkata today.
FC Goa has been banking on the skills of Liston Colaco to get their goals and how Real Kashmir manage to keep him quite could well decide which team makes it to their first semifinal appearance.
FC Goa, like Real Kashmir, have won both their games but the team from Kashmir has a better goal average and hence a better defensive and offensive story. FC Goa has scored three goals and conceded one goal to take their goal average to +2 whilst Real Kashmir has not conceded a goal yet and scored five leaving them with a healthy goal average of +5.
Obviously, GC Goa needs to win – by how many is irrelevant – and Liston Colaco is the player the team has looked for goals not only in this tournament but otherwise too. If not amidst scoring, he has to be amidst assists for FC Goa to have any chance of breaking Real Kashmir’s confidence. East Bengal and Mohun Bagan – who have both won the title sixteen times each – have already qualified from Group A and B winning all their three games.
