In a bid to improve paddy cultivation and to bring more barren land under cultivation, zonal agriculture office has been organising farmers’ meet to motivate farmers to take up paddy cultivation in Bardez taluka.
A farmer’s meet was organised at Nachinola panchayat by Bardez zonal agriculture office in association with Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), which was attended by farmers from Nachinola and neighbouring village farmers.
The meet was presided over by assistant agriculture officer Santoshi Achrekar, block technology manager of ATMA Ashweta Khambal Pal, service provider Dinesh Harmalkar of modern technology farmers clubs of Chicalim, Colvale, local panch member Pooja Mayekar and others.
During the meeting the farmers were shown a video on usage of transplantation machinery and how it could reduce farmer’s worries.
Farmers were even provided with subsidy details.
Pal said that “due to various reasons, including lack of manpower, fields are kept fallow and so with the aim of bringing more fields under cultivation, we are organising farmers’ meets at various places across the taluka to motivate farmers to take up cultivation.”
She further said that “mechanised paddy transplantation is a boon for famers as farming can be done with lesser cost. State government is providing 50 per cent subsidy on mechanised transplantation and also on ploughing.”
“We are confident that through such farmers’ meet many farmers will get motivated and take up paddy cultivation. Our target is to bring more fallow land under cultivation,” added Pal.
