EDC supported startups impress investors

With an aim to give its incubating startups an opportunity to raise funds, the EDC Innovation Hub, conducted its first Ignite Investor Pitch Day recently.  Seasoned investors Amitabh Shrivastava (IAN Fund),  Suryaprakash Konanuru (Ideaspring Capital),  Arun Raghavan (Arali Ventures) and Murali Krishna Gunturu (Paramparas) were invited to the event. Marella Rodrigues, Mumbai Angel Network and Carlos Souza, Goa Angels Network were also among the investors.

Nine of Ignite’s incubatee startups presented their ideas, showcased their products and shared their business plans with thee investors. All the startups had been guided by the Ignite’s team on structuring and fine tuning their pitch.

The session covered several hours of pitches, questions and deliberations between the investors and the startups. Post session the investors promised to evaluate the business potential of the startups.

Investor Srivastava from IAN Fund, said, “EDC is doing a great job in refining local talent the right way and Konanuru, Ideaspring Capital, was similarly supportive. He said, “Enjoyed the interaction. Quality and variety of startups exceeded my expectations. Some of the startups were really innovative. Overall an amazing experience.”

Later in the evening, Talks@IGNITE, an annual talk was held. “What Makes a Startup Impressive for Investors?” was the theme of the talk. The audience comprised several of Goa’s startups, executives, students and entrepreneurs. IGNITE Innovation Hub is the incubator set up by EDC. The facility can seat 78 people.
