Eating healthy food to prevent COVID-19

With the spotlight on nutritious eating to avoid coronavirus infection, the GCCI Women s Wing along with FDA-Goa received robust response to a recent webinar on Eating Right Post COVID-19.

Pallavi Salgaocar, chairperson, women’s wing welcomed the gathering, while the inaugural address was by Jyoti Sardessai, director, FDA.  

The webinar was conducted by Dorothy Periera, food safety and hygiene manager, Taj Hotels, Goa, who urged participants to eat Indian super foods during pandemic times.  Richard Noronha, designated officer, FDA, spoke on the importance of hygiene by home cooking startups and other food operators.

Several Goans have started home cooking takeaway services during the lockdown. “In the interest of health of general public, it is necessary that they follow proper hygiene while cooking, packing and delivering. Further home cooking businesses must also ensure efficient disposal of the leftovers and food garbage,” said FDA officials. The session was moderated by Sonali Nagvekar, member, women’s wing member and Dr Indira Fonseca made the vote of thanks speech.
