The department of BA Mass Communication of Don Bosco College, Panaji hosted a series of workshops as part of their annual event Prime Time 2020. The topics that were covered during the event included photography, film and television making, power of passion and social media.
Speaking on the occasion, principal of the college, Cedric Silveira mentioned that the event is not about competition but collaboration. While manager of the college, Fr Joaquim Lobo, in his address stated that one should not wait for inspiration. “One should make a conscious decision and spend the time wisely,” he said and further added that by practice one can become
better at any skill.
The first speaker for the day was Goan actor, Sachin Surlekar known for Konkani films ‘Martin’ and ‘Home Sweet Home 2’. During his session, he screened a short film by Satyajit Ray titled ‘Two’. He further spoke about the initial years of Indian Cinema and the power of visualisation. Citing examples from Goan film industry he emphasised the importance of making short films. This was followed by a question-and-answer session.
The next speaker was life coach and founder of Unlearning Unlimited, Pravin Sabnis. In his address he urged students to pursue their passions. In his presentation he highlighted that one needs to be affirmative in order to achieve success in life. Further he also challenged the students to distinguish between one’s needs and wants in order to achieve
clarity in life.
The next speaker was professional photographer Maria Philipose. Addressing the students, she spoke about the importance of being themselves and coping with difficulties. She further stressed on hard work, determination, physical fitness and the strive for excellence.
The last speaker of the day was co-founder of Dranding Consulting Private Limited, Floyd Tavares. Having launched the Facebook page for Goa’s Tourism, in his address, he spoke about the importance of social media
