The department of physics, DM’s College and Research Centre, Assagao organised an excursion visit as an out-reach endeavour aimed at value addition for students to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and Visvisvaraya Museum, Bangaluru, Karnataka. Twenty-three students were accompanied by three teachers, namely, Shaikh M Parvez Al-Usmani, Manoj Kothawale and Sanchita Rane and a technician S Andrew Karof.
On day-one of the visit, students had an opportunity to visit different departments of IISc, wherein they were acquainted with different research equipment and were briefed about various research activities being carried out there. Information was provided about various protocols of research and other pre-requisites by the domain experts. The students also had an opportunity to interact with the experts. They were given an explanation in detail about various openings available for the research including projects and procedure to apply for the same.
The second day of the excursion was utilised to visit Visvisvaraya Museum. The students had first-hand experience of visiting various scientific exhibits and also hands-on experimentation of various scientific displays at the site.
