The Central Bureau of Investigation has taken over the probe into the case of alleged murder of Swedish tourist Felix Dahl.
Sources said the CBI has re-registered the FIR into the alleged murder.
S S Parab, police inspector of CBI-Goa, is investigation the case. Last month the High Court of Bombay at Goa had ordered the transfer of the inquiry to the CBI.
Dahl, aged 22 years, was found dead in suspicious condition at Patnem, Canacona in 2015.
Dahl’s mother Minna Pirhonen, represented by advocate Shikha Sethia, had appealed to the court to transfer the case to the CBI.
The Goa police decided not to file a chargesheet stating that they had not found any evidence to prove the death as a murder.
In 2016, a case of murder was registered after the judicial magistrate first class directed the police to do so.
The division bench of High Court comprising Justices N M Jamdar and Prithviraj K Chavan had observed that the investigating agency cannot be permitted to investigate ‘in a tainted and biased manner’.
