After a 25 year old victim woman, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh was rescued from alleged flesh trade activity in Goa, the crime branch police have written to the foreigner’s regional registration office (FRRO), Panaji in order to verify the identity of the woman through the concerned embassy.
The woman was rescued earlier this week by the crime branch police. Sources informed that the woman had provided to the police her residential address in Bangladesh. To verify the same, the police have written to the FRRO, informed police officials. Police said that the victim woman had entered illegally in India some three years back and was residing in Kolkata and Mumbai. The victim is currently lodged in the protective home at Merces.
It may be recalled that earlier this week the crime branch police had rescued the victim during a raid near a hotel in Nagoa, Bardez. In connection with the case the police had arrested accused Anik Roy and he is currently in police custody.
Around three months back the victim was brought to Goa,
allegedly by the accused person and kept in a rented room at Nagoa Bardez,
police had said. The accused allegedly forced the victim into prostitution
activities, informed police. Police said that the accused Roy (24) is residing
in a rented room at Khorlim Mapusa along with his wife since the last 3 years.
He is originally from West Bengal informed police adding that earlier he was working as a tourist guide and recently started a mobile shop near Parra junction.
