‘COVID positivity rate stands at 2.83% in state’

Panaji: The directorate of health services on Monday claimed that around 91,182 samples have been tested for the COVID-19 pandemic, so far,  covering 6.07 per cent of the population of the state of Goa.

Addressing a press conference in Panaji, director of health services Dr Jose D’Sa said, “As per the analysis, 6.07 per cent of the population of the state of Goa has been tested for COVID-19. The positivity rate of the total samples tested is 2.83 per cent; the recovery rate is 59.6 per cent while the case fatality rate is 0.61 per cent of the total positive cases.”

This analysis was done by the DHS considering 15 lakh population.

Dr D’Sa said that till date, 91,182 throat swab samples have been tested in the state, of which 2, 583 were found to be positive for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health secretary Nila Mohanan said the numbers of confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been increasing in the state because more and more samples are being drawn for testing every day.
