The Goa Forward Party (GFP) chief and Fatorda legislator Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday demanded forming of an all-party advisory committee so that ‘mature’ decisions could be taken as regards public health in view of the lockdown imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
Issuing a press note, Sardesai said that “due to seriousness of the looming crisis and after observing what happened in Goa in the last couple of weeks while ensuring public health and the type of leadership we have experienced, we demand that an all-party state advisory committee be formed headed by the chief minister.”
Sardesai said that looking at how the state of was handling coronavirus and the situation caused due to scarce availability of essential commodities, “there was an urgent need for a team leadership to help take wise decisions. Expertise of former chief ministers needs to be taken into account in such times of crisis.”
Sardesai further said that team work will help in confidence building during the critical times. “Therefore, keeping in mind the extraordinary situation, the Goa Forward Party demands that an all-party state advisory committee, headed by the chief minister, be formed to work in tandem with the state executive committees, led by the chief secretary,” he added.
