Consumer rights group, GOACAN wants Goans to remember their consumer rights during the ongoing pandemic . To mark June 25, celebrated as State Consumer Rights Day, the consumer body urged Goans to come forward and complain in all instances whenever they feel shortchanged.
“In the last 90 days of the lock down there have been many cases when shop owners and service providers tried to justify the exploitation of consumers by using COVID-19 lock down as an excuse,” said GOACAN. The consumer group urged parents to make children aware of consumer rights
“As we move into the new normal the norms of social distancing and wearing of masks is compulsory. When service providers send personnel for home visits they should be wearing masks. Further the genuineness of POS machines need to be checked by users,” said GOACAN. It said that, consumers need to be extra careful when making online transactions.
To celebrate State Consumer Rights Day, the help lines of BSNL, electricity department, legal metrology department, LPG retailers and FDA were publicized.
