Connecting at Pet Socials 1.0

To give pet owners a chance to meet up and enjoy their time with pets, proprietor of Mascot – Pet Lifestyle Store, Chaitanya Malkarnekar organised Pet Socials 1.0 recently at Green Amaze, Borda, Margao.

Pet Socials was essentially a pool party, but for pets. “This is the first ever public pet gathering in Goa. We even had visitors from Bangalore to observe,” said Chaitanya.

The pet parents had to register the names of their pets prior to the event. More than 50 pets were seen enjoying in the pool, some swam for the first time while trainers taught others to swim. There were also those pets that were not comfortable getting in the water and the owners didn’t fuss about that.

A pet food stall with a special menu was set up. There were games, activities and spot prizes organised for the pets and pet parents. There was a caricature artist and pet photo booth arranged for pet lovers to create memories with their pets.

A local NGO also held an adoption camp at the event that saw a few puppies being taken home. It was a day where people got a chance to interact with veterinarians, trainers and pet groomers. A general check-up was also held for all the dogs present at the event.

Chaitanya told us that this event was one that was working on for over one and half year, but couldn’t get the time. Finally she managed to put the entire event together within twenty days.

After a great response, there are plans to organise such parties more often. This is the only time when people get a chance to take their pets out and have a great time. Pets are family and such moments make for great family bonding time.

Chaitanya’s plans are instinctive. He does not plan in advance but when he does, he tries to make it happen soon and the same goes with an app that is being created. “Currently our app- Petsconnekt is almost ready to be launched. This will allow pet parents to connect. Here, they will be able to buy, sell and adopt pets, besides finding find pet stores, veterinarians, pet groomers, etc, in their area through this app.”
