Congress asks CM to ‘come clean’ on EC to Karnataka

Panaji: Alleging that the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar has failed to clarify on the environmental approval granted to Karnataka for the Kalasa Bhandura drinking water project even after 10 days, the Congress party on Thursday asked the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to spell out his next action plan to protect Goa’s interest in Mhadei matter.

“It is a clear conspiracy of BJP in connivance with local leaders to give clearance to Karnataka to woo the voters for the upcoming Assembly by-polls as we had said earlier. After the Supreme Court verdict on the disqualification of Karnataka MLAs, it’s clear now that bye-elections will be held soon as claimed by us earlier. Javadekar was aware that the Supreme Court verdict will be out in 10 days so he also had asked for ten days. It is certain now that Goa is sold by BJP to win these by-elections,” Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar said in a statement issued here.

He said that the Congress party is committed to protecting Mother Mhadei and will continue to protest with Mhadei Jagor agitation. He demanded that the government immediately withdraw Section 144 imposed in Goa in view of the Ayodhya verdict.

“Chief Minister stands exposed as he has betrayed Goans to favour his party at the cost of Goa’s lifeline. We condemn the act of Javadekar for telling lies and giving false assurance to the all-party delegation. He once again proved that the BJP is the party of liars. Now he has completely betrayed Goemkars,” the Congress president said.
