Leader of opposition Digambar Kamat on Tuesday said the Congress is geared up to contest the zilla panchayat elections on party lines as the people are with the Congress.
Reacting to election contests based on party lines, he said that with the BJP contesting on party lines the Congress too has decided to field candidates. “We are confident of a good result as the people are with the Congress,” he said.
Reacting to the victory of Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, Kamat said there will be no effect of the AAP in Goa as the scenario is completely different here.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Water Resources Filipe Nery Rodrigues said that the state machinery is fully geared up for the ensuing zilla panchayat elections, adding, the dates will be announced shortly.
Replying to a question of any postponement of the elections, he said if there is any specific requirement a proposal can be sent to the state government and the dates can be adjusted accordingly.
