Confluence of Western and Indian music at ‘Saai Naad’

On the occasion of ‘Saai Paduka Darshan Sohala’, a special programme of Indian and Western music  ‘Saai Naad’ will be held on October 14 between 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim. NT BUZZ finds more

Around 50 artistes will be devoting seven different musical numbers to Saai Baba. The musical numbers have been composed by Goan vocalist Pravin Gaonkar. The rhythm section will be handled by tabla player professor Mayuresh Vasta whereas the western part will be handled by keyboard player Vishnu Shirodkar.

Percussionist of international fame Bondo will be another feature of this program. A total of four ‘dhol’ players; five ‘shamel’ players;  four ‘taal’ players; a ‘jhaanz’ player; eight ‘ghumot’ players; four ‘tabla’ players; four ‘pakhawaj’ players; two guitar players; a keyboard player; a flute player; a ‘sarangi’ player; a harmonium player and 12 singers will be performing together at the fusion concert. Except for sarangi and flute players the other artistes are based in Goa.

This is a one-of-a-kind musical event that has been conceptualised by Anil Counto. It is an event where Indian and Western artistes will perform together on one stage.
