CM warns govt officers against tricking job seekers

Panaji: Suspecting that some officers in certain government departments are extorting money from public on the pretext of giving them government jobs, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday appealed to citizens to register related complaints either with police or Chief Ministers Office.

Sawant also assured strict action against such officers.

“I have information that these officers are using my name as well as those of ministers while doing such things,” he maintained.

Incidentally, Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte had stated some days ago that 30 per cent government employees could be indulging in side businesses in parallel with their government jobs.

Speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister further observed that almost 20 per cent of the government staff do not perform their duties fully, and stated that he has already issued  them final warning.

He also said that 80 per cent of the government employees are functioning well, and performing to the best of their ability.
