The Fifteenth Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki Sangeet Mahotsav is set to mesmerise the music lovers of Goa on September 14 and September 15 at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda


The Fifteenth Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki Sangeet Mahotsav will take place on September 14 and 15 (10 a.m. to 10 p.m.) at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda. The event will see nationally and internationally acclaimed artistes participating in the 15th year of Tarangini Sanskruti Pratishtan to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki. The event will see these artistes serenade the audience with their musical talents.

The festival will be inaugurated on September 14 at 10 a.m. by art and culture minister and chairman of Kala Academy Goa and Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Govind Gaude.

Sixteen artistes, two of whom are from Goa, namely, Komal Sane-Gurav and Sandesh Khedekar, will present vocal recitals.

Senior disciples of Pt Abhisheki, Raja Kale and Sudhakar Deole will offer a musical homage to Pt Abhisheki. 

Performers for this year’s festival are Venkatesh Kumar and Ajay Pohankar. The event will see Ninand Deo, Gautam Kale, Manas Vishwaroop, Ram Shankar, Ruchira Kedar, Nandini Bedekar and Alka Deo Marulkar with Tejas Upadhye on playing the violin and Vivek Sonar playing the flute.

Accompanying artistes from Goa will include Mayank Bedekar, Raya Korgaonkar, Dayanidhesh Kosambe, Tulshidas Narvelkar, Chinmay Kolhatkar, Vithhal Khandolkar, Dattaraj Surlakar, Dattaraj Mhalshi, Dattaraj Shettye, Amar Mopkar, Subhas Phatarfekar, Rohidas Parab, Vishant Surlakar, Kishore Teli, Subhash Kama and Sudhir Nayak. The audiences will also witness Harshala Totade from Australia presenting a kathak dance recital at the festival.

The festival is organised by Kala Academy Goa in collaboration with Tarangini Saunskrutik Pratisthan, Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda and with the support of Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa and Department of Tourism.

The programme is free and open to everyone.
