Old classics ‘Padosan’ (1968), the Mehmood-Kishore Kumar rip-roaring comedy, and ‘Chalti ka Naam Gaadi’ (1958), the fun-film by Ganguly – Ashok Kumar, Kishore Kumar and Anup Kumar – brothers will be the part of the Open Air Screening section at the 50th International Film Festival of India, to be inaugurated in Goa on November 20, 2019.
The organisers of the IFFI 2019 have announced that 14 films will be screened at the Open Air Screening section. Every year, IFFI organises open air screenings to bring the best of cinematic experience to the cine enthusiasts.
This year, the theme of the open air screenings will be ‘The Joy of Cinema’. The selected movies from the comedy and related genre – including classic comedies of all time and few movies from the Indian Panorama section – will be screened for the audience, at the open air screenings.
This year, the screenings will be organised at two venues namely Joggers Park, Altinho-Panaji and Miramar Beach from November 20 to November 27. Jogger’s Park will screen movies on comedy and related genres, while Miramar Beach will screen select movies of the Indian Panorama section.
The open air screenings will be open to everyone and will not require any registration. The entry will be free for all.
The movies to be screened at Jogger’s Park, Altinho include, ‘Chalti ka Naam Gaadi’ (1958), ‘Padosan’ (1968), ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ (1994), ‘Hera Pheri’ (2000), ‘Chennai Express’ (2013), ‘Badhaai Ho’ (2018) and ‘Total Dhamaal’ (2019).
Those, which will be screened at the Miramar Beach are ‘Nachom-ia Kumpasar’ (Konkani), ‘Super 30’ (Hindi), ‘Anandi Gopal’ (Marathi), ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ (Hindi), ‘Hellaro’ (Gujarati), ‘Gully Boy’ (Hindi), and ‘F2 – Fun and Frustration’ (Telugu).
