CII Yi and Navy personnel observe World Blood Donation Day

To celebrate World Blood Donation Day on June 14, officers of the Indian Navy organised a blood donation camp at the Naval Hospital Jeevanti, Vasco. The camp was organised by headquarters Goa Naval Area in collaboration with the CII- Young Indians.

Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil, NB Flag Officer, Commanding, Goa Nanaval Area, inaugurated the camp in the presence of naval officers, members of CII and Yi- Goa  and Rotary club of Vasco, Port area.

Appreciating the strong response for blood donation from naval personnel, the chief guest, said that blood donations camps are organised regularly by the Navy as part of CSR. In addition naval personnel regularly donate blood at GMC whenever required, he said. More than 145 personnel registered for the camp and 128 units of blood was collected. The camp was part of nationwide drive by CII Yi from June 13 to 15. The GMC blood bank team lead by Dr Clare D’Mello conducted the camp and collected the blood for the people of Goa.
