Chowgule-agriculture: Second and third year students of sociology, Shree Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao working with farmers of the Velip community

Chowgule College takes up unique agricultural assignment

Department of sociology at Shree Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao executed a unique assignment for the elective papers of rural sociology where 47 students of second year and third year (Bachelor of Arts) visited the Velip community of Pisurla, Barchem and Canacona to learn about agriculture and work in the village fields.

Students these days seem to be less associated with the farming world and do not know much about farmers’ hard work and struggle. The unique assignment helped create interest among students towards the agricultural world and to give them a better understanding by witnessing and working in the agricultural field.  Students worked with the farmers, interacted with them and also sampled local fare served on banana leaves. Forty-seven students participated in the assignment.
