PANAJI: Agacaim police, on Friday, arrested (procedural arrest) and released singer Remo Fernandes on bail in connection with child verbal abuse case. According to the police, the procedural arrest and subsequent release on bail was done as the Goa Children’s Court has granted anticipatory bail to Remo.
The anticipatory bail was granted on Thursday on the conditions that in the event of his arrest, the applicant, Remo, shall be released on bail on furnishing personal bond of Rs 50,000 with one solvent and preferably local surety in the like amount, to the satisfaction of the investigating officer.
Agacaim police inspector Jivba Dalvi confirmed that Remo was arrested and subsequently released on bail.
On Friday, Remo appeared before the Agacaim police as per the court directives to appear for ten days from January 8, 2016, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
The police questioned Remo in connection with the case.
As per the court directives, Remo deposited his passport with the Agacaim police.
Remo, a Portuguese national, is accused of allegedly verbally abusing a minor girl, and in this connection Agacaim police have registered an offence under the Goa Children’s Act following a complaint lodged by Aires Rodrigues.
The incident of alleged verbal abuse was reported on December 3. The girl a native of Malvan-Maharashtra was injured after she was reportedly hit by a car driven by Remo’s son Jonah on December 1 at Guirim-Mapusa.
