Panaji: A fine brace from Marvoti Horizon helped Chapora Yuvak Sangh score an easy 4-1 win over Holiday Sports Club in the Goa Football Association Third Division League match played at Chapora ground, on Wednesday.
Chapora were clearly the better side from the word go. It didn’t take them long before they converted their dominance into lead as Marvoti Horizon gave them an early 5th minute lead.
Chapora doubled the tally in the 20th minute through Akshay Shirodkar. The winners led 2-0 at the break.
Crossing over, Chapora’s Tanmay Naika and Lesten Martins controlled the midfield and nullified opposition’s attack. Chapora consolidated the lead through Marvoti in the 83rd minute.
Holiday SC’s Sahil and Saish had a good game but they lacked support from the teammates. In the 90th minute Aniket Dabolkar scored the fourth goal before Bhavesh Gawas managed to score a consolation goal for the losing team from a spot kick.
Meanwhile at Dando ground, Benaulim, United Sports Club, Seraulim won the 11-goal thriller against United Club of Benaulim.
In a see-saw battle which entertained the Benaulim spectators, it was Shelton Araujo’s hat-trick which helped his team score a narrow 6-5 win over UC Benaulim.
UC Benaulim started the match on the front foot and took the lead through Gomes in the 9th minute. But the joy was short-lived as Shelton Araujo levelled terms in the 14th minute.
In the 22nd minute M Cunha put USC Seraulim ahead as Jesus Ferrao restored parity at the half hour mark.
Soon Shelton put Seraulim ahead once again but their lead lasted for two minutes as Keegan Fernandes made it 3-3 in the 39th minute.
Crossing over, it was all about Shelton as the striker completed his hat-trick and then added another before Sanju Prasad scored the team’s sixth goal.
In the final quarter, UC Benaulim went all out and managed to pull two goals through Valent Cardozo and Manfred Fernandes.
